Philanthropic Project Brief — July 2026

Building the infrastructure that makes genuine privacy structurally possible

Comanity is a quantum-safe, decentralized communications and commerce platform designed so that no government, corporation, legal authority, or AI system can access user data — because it does not exist in recoverable form anywhere.

Day 1
Platform self-sustaining at launch

Every platform that exists today makes a privacy promise. Comanity makes a privacy fact.

Signal encrypts messages but holds metadata and operates under US legal jurisdiction. ProtonMail complied with Swiss legal demands and produced user data. Telegram stores data on centralized servers. Even the most privacy-oriented competitors can be compelled to produce something because they hold something.

Comanity holds nothing. User data is sharded and distributed across a decentralized network in which no single node — including Comanity itself — holds any user information in recoverable form. This is not a feature. It is a structural distinction no current platform offers.

"No government, no court order, no legal process from any jurisdiction can compel us to produce what does not exist. This is not a policy position. It is an architectural reality."

— Rod A. Smith, Founder & CEO

Four converging forces are eliminating what remains of private communication and commerce

The convergence is not theoretical. It is documented, accelerating, and closing the window for building sovereign private communications infrastructure.

01 — Financial Surveillance

Central Bank Digital Currencies

Over 130 countries representing 98% of global GDP are actively developing CBDCs. Unlike cash, a programmable CBDC records every transaction, attributes it to a verified identity, and can be conditioned on behavioral compliance. Financial privacy is being structurally eliminated by design.

02 — Legal Compulsion

Communications Platform Disclosure

Every major platform operating under US or allied jurisdiction is subject to compelled disclosure under FISA Section 702 and similar frameworks. Encryption protects content in transit. It does not protect the platform's compliance with legal demands for user data.

03 — Cryptographic Obsolescence

Quantum Computing Threat

NIST finalized its first post-quantum cryptographic standards in August 2024 because existing encryption will not survive advancing quantum computing. Communications infrastructure built today to pre-quantum standards will not provide the privacy it promises for the duration of its useful life.

04 — AI Surveillance

Artificial Intelligence Penetration

AI-powered surveillance systems can now analyze, classify, and exploit private communications at a scale and speed no human organization could achieve. Comanity is architecturally impenetrable by AI — no data exists in any recoverable form that an AI system could access, analyze, or mine. This is not a policy. It is a structural fact.

Five properties no current platform offers simultaneously

Comanity is a quantum-safe, decentralized communications and commerce platform built on an architecture designed to make compelled disclosure — by governments, corporations, or AI systems — structurally impossible.

No Recoverable User Data

The decentralized sharding architecture distributes data across a network in which no node — including Comanity itself — holds coherent user information. Nothing exists to produce in response to any legal demand, corporate request, or AI mining operation from any jurisdiction.

Post-Quantum Cryptography

All communications, storage, and identity operations use NIST-standardized ML-KEM, ML-DSA, and SLH-DSA algorithms — FIPS 203, 204, and 205. Designed to remain cryptographically defensible as quantum computing matures over decades.

Jurisdictional Sovereignty

Planned Cayman Islands Exempted Company incorporation, non-US infrastructure contracts, and data distribution across multiple sovereign territories create a three-layer legal buffer that makes compelled disclosure structurally impractical from any single jurisdiction.

Private Commerce

The protected marketplace enables members to transact using digitized commodity-backed exchange — providing an alternative to CBDC-controlled financial infrastructure. Genuine privacy in the CBDC era requires the ability to communicate and transact through the same sovereign architecture.

Proof of Personhood — Identity-Verified Membership

Every Comanity member is a verified living human being. The platform's Decentralized Autonomous Identity infrastructure provides biometric liveness verification with no hardware requirement, no biometric storage, and no data retained by the platform. The result: no bots, no synthetic accounts, no anonymous bad actors, no trolls, no AI impersonation. When you communicate on Comanity, you know with certainty that every person you speak with is exactly who they say they are. No other platform providing genuine privacy has solved the identity problem without compromising the privacy it promises. Comanity solves both simultaneously.

The first platform to integrate every communication tool with sovereign data storage

No other platform combines a complete suite of private communications tools with integrated encrypted data storage — all on a single quantum-safe, identity-verified architecture. Comanity is not a messaging app. It is infrastructure.

Communications

Private and group messaging • Group broadcasting to millions simultaneously • Voice and video calls • Video messaging • Video conferencing • Secure file transfer • Private search

Community

Public, private, and subscription groups • Creator content spaces • Courses and challenges • Community forums • Podcasting • Social media • Loyalty and reward system

Data & Commerce

Digital Vault encrypted storage • Health and financial records • Family documents • HIPAA-compliant immutable storage • Protected marketplace • Commodity-backed private exchange

All of this — every tool, every storage layer, every transaction — operates on the same decentralized, quantum-safe, identity-verified architecture. One login. One verified identity. Complete privacy across every function. No other platform in the world integrates data storage with a full suite of private communications tools in a single sovereign environment.

Why this is a philanthropic cause, not a commercial investment

Comanity demonstrates that privacy infrastructure can be economically self-sustaining without advertising, government contracts, or venture capital — permanently removing the financial incentives that have caused every major platform to compromise user privacy.

I

Structural Communications Privacy

Infrastructure that no government or legal process can compel to produce user data — protecting journalists, activists, dissidents, and ordinary citizens in every high-surveillance environment on earth.

II

Financial Sovereignty Alternative

A private commerce alternative to CBDC financial surveillance infrastructure, preserving the individual's ability to transact without government observation as programmable digital currencies are deployed globally.

III

A Self-Sustaining Model

The platform's subscription model covers all operating costs from the first month of operation. This is a one-time capital need, not a recurring subsidy. Donors fund the completion of something that then sustains itself permanently.

$1,000,000 completes the project

Two and a half years and $3.1 million in prior capital have been invested. The remaining work is defined, budgeted, and engineering-ready. This grant completes the project. It does not begin a perpetual funding relationship.

Phase 1
$400,000

Platform Completion

Architecture and mesh network integration, quantum-safe encryption implementation across all communications layers, decentralized sharding network deployment, proof-of-personhood identity verification infrastructure, QA and security compliance, and beta test execution.

12 months from funding
Phase 2
$600,000

Global Data Center Network

Establishment of the initial global data center network across a minimum of four non-US jurisdictions, creating the physical infrastructure required for the decentralized architecture to function at scale and ensuring no single jurisdiction can compel network access.

How philanthropic capital reaches this project

Comanity is currently pursuing a fiscal sponsorship relationship with aligned 501(c)(3) organizations that will provide the tax-exempt vehicle through which philanthropic capital is received and administered. Donors giving through the fiscal sponsor receive full tax deductibility. Funds are held and disbursed by the sponsor with full expenditure accountability. A fiscal sponsor confirmation is expected within 60 days.

Individual Donors

For donors wishing to contribute before the fiscal sponsorship vehicle is confirmed, or for donors for whom tax deductibility is not a primary consideration, direct giving conversations are welcome. We are happy to discuss gift structure, timing, and how your contribution will be applied.
